The Girodisc system is designed as a direct replacement for the factory brake disc, requiring no modifications for installation. Each rotor bolts directly to the vehicle and operates seamlessly with the original calipers, preserving factory brake bias and maintaining full ABS functionality. This lightweight, high-performance alternative to a big brake kit enhances braking response and reduces unsprung mass without compromising system balance or safety.
The central hat section is precision-machined from U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum, while the rotor ring is crafted from Girodisc’s proprietary cast iron, poured and fully machined in-house in the USA. The curved vane design, developed through motorsport experience, acts as a centrifugal pump to optimize airflow through the disc, significantly improving cooling and fade resistance during high-performance driving.
The floating mount system connects the rotor to the hat using 8 or 10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins, cadmium plated for superior corrosion resistance. These pins, secured by grade 12 cap screws and hardened washers, carry braking loads while allowing controlled axial and radial movement. Anti-noise spring washers ensure quiet operation by preventing rattle during cold use, while permitting thermal expansion and maintaining self-centering between the pads. Once installed, only the cast iron rotor ring requires replacement during maintenance.
